SEASON IS
TOAST. THIS OFFICIALLY SUCKS.
Well...they went ahead and did it. Marking their place in the history books as the first North American sports league to lose an entire season to a labor strike, the NHL has canceled the 2005 season. Bastards!!!! This will also mark the first year since 1917 the Stanley Cup has not been awarded to a team (finals canceled due to an epedimic of Spanish Flu that year..blah-blah-blah..). This really pisses me off! The owners and players are equally at fault. They need to get their asses in gear and get this stuff straightened out for next season for 4 (selfish I might add) reasons.
Selfish Reason #1
1. The NHL All Star game is scheduled to be played here in Phoenix.
Long story short, I want to go because it is finally being played in a town that I live in.
Selfish Reason #2
2. I want to see Brett Hull play with the Coyotes.
I bough a jersey with his number (previously retired #9 jersey...his dad Bobby Hull wore it with the Winnipeg Jets who are now the Yotes) and I want Brett's freakin' autograph on it. He already missed 1 year on his 2 year contract...if they don't play next season there's a good chance he will retire, therefore rendering my new purchase useless. The dude is 40...he isn't in his prime, you know?
Selfish Reason #3
I have a new Dallas Stars flag I am jonesing to fly outside of my new house. I love the Coyotes, but Dallas is my favorite team and always will be.
Selfish Reason #4
There is no hockey in Arizona (other than Jr.A...which is fun but I don't dig the hockey parents yelling at refs and their kids) and I want to see some hockey dammit.
I suppose it will all be resolved sometime, but the sooner the better.
F you Bettman. F you in your dirty cornhole.
