Stick and Puck

Welcome to Stick and Puck! The names stems from my love of the game of hockey. I cannot guarantee up-to-date hockey information here, but I can guarantee my political views and bizarre sense of humor will be in full effect. If you are easily offended, or have an affinity for the Repulican Party, you may want to read elsewhere. If you have an open mind and good sense of humor, come on in. Hey, Fatty!

Wow...I had to comment on this one.

A Dr. finds himself in trouble because he told a patient that she's obese and that her weight could cause her some long term health problems. HELLO! HE'S A DOCTOR! HE'S SUPPOSED TO TELL YOU THESE THINGS!

I'm sorry, if you weigh 300 pounds and you are 5'2", there's a problem. You aren't big boned, you aren't "fluffy". YOU ARE FAT. The Dr shouldn't have to sugar coat the truth. If you are fat and you don't know it, go see this doctor. Hell...I have a gut. I let myself go in the last few years. I'm overweight. Do I cry about it or get offended if anyone points that out? Nope...that's why I'm in the gym every day now. I don't want to be sick...I don't want to be overweight...I don't want to be out of breath when I go up a set of stairs.

Here's a shocker...Many Americans are obese or overweight. If you want to do some investigating about yourself...here's how:

(This info came from WEBMD)

Body fat can be calculated by using the BMI (Body Mass Index).

The BMI is also based on your height and weight, and it gives a better -- but not perfect -- estimate of body fat.

It is calculated by dividing a person's weight (in kilograms) by his or her height (in meters, squared). BMI can also be calculated by multiplying weight (in pounds) by 705, then dividing by height (in inches) twice.

A BMI of 30 or more is considered obese and a BMI between 25 to 29.9 is considered overweight.

Here's how I fare. I weigh 265 lbs.
I am 6'7" (79 inches)

265 x 705 = 18,6825

(18,6825/79)/79= 29.93

I have a BMI of 29.93. I am considered overweight by these standards. Kind of scary it's .07 away from being obese, but there you have it. You don't see me getting upset. If you are fat...do yourself, your family and loved ones a favor...get in shape. You will live longer to be thankful for it.

Dish Network

I have to give a quick THANK YOU to the folks at Dish Network. The guy that came to install my dish got there Saturday evening at 6:30 PM and didn't leave until 10:30 PM because he wanted to make sure everything was perfect. Now if that isn't professional, I don't know what is. I don't know too many folks willing to stay out late and work on a Saturday night.

AND...satelite is so much better than regular cable! I highly recommend it. :-)
